Thursday’s Blog – Mama Bear and the
Fool
Proverbs 17:12 – Let a man met a
bear robbed of her cubs, rather than a fool in his folly (lack of sense).
Bible Challenges and Comments
There
is a shipmate from one of the submarines we served on who reads some of the
blogs and devotionals, so the other day I looked up his Facebook page to give
thanks and he had posted a list of puns. And I thought I would share a few with
us this morning. So here goes!
11. Jokes about German sausage are the “wurst”
22.
A soldier who survived mustard gas
and pepper spray is now considered a “seasoned veteran”.
33.
I wondered why the baseball was
getting bigger, then it “hit me”.
44.
Broken pencils are (you guessed it)…
“pointless”!
Most
of us like a chuckle from time to time so I hope these tickle the “chuck” in
you!
A
more joyful thought! Recently someone said that my devotionals during this time
period would no doubt be focused on the Resurrection Sunday since we are doing
a presentation on Friday and Saturday of God’s Creation, the Birth, Ministry,
Death and Resurrection of Our Savior and LORD, Jesus Christ.
The
comment caused me to think more deeply about these five events and how these are
ongoing in the Mind of God (time does not exist with God) and also what these
should mean to you and me as believers in the gospel of our Savior, Jesus.
First let me say that I am nowhere near understanding the full impact of this.
No one could be except God Himself.
Yet,
if we as saints of God want to experience the “Joy and suffering” of our
salvation, we must be willing to face, study, mediate or do the diligence of
involving ourselves in the “mind of God” (Philippians 2:5-11) in these awesome
events. For example; think for the moment of the tremendous Power of God to
accomplish “Creation, the Birth of Jesus, the Ministry of Jesus, the Death of
Jesus and His Resurrection from that Death. For example: God said “Let there be
light” and There was light! Genesis 1:3.
Not
just light, but a Universe of it; a Word of it; a Person of it and as saints we
are sons of the light, all of these natural and spiritual expressions of Light and
many more are recorded for us in the Living and Holy Bible. Do the diligence
and take a look. Your heart and soul will be filled with Joy and don’t forget
the suffering, as to suffer in life with the LORD actually turns to joy, joy inexpressible
and full of glory; 1 Peter 1:3 through 2:10.
If
you have faith that God created “Light” then you have faith to trust the gospel
of faith in Christ. Romans 1:16-17, the just (those who believe by faith) shall
live in the light of that faith.
The
apostle Paul puts these five events in perspective in 1 Corinthians, actually
he uses the entire epistle to bring this to light and yet there is one section
in chapter two that identifies the theme of the epistle with these words.
1 Corinthians 2:1-5 – And
I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come with excellence of speech or of
wisdom declaring to you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know
anything among you except Jesus Christ and Him crucified. I was with you in
weakness, in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching were
not with persuasive words of human wisdom, but in demonstration
of the Spirit and of power, that your faith should not be in the wisdom of men
but in the power of God. (more another day)
