Thursday’s Blog – Don't be a wise Fool

Thursday’s Blog – Don't be a wise Fool

Psalm 14:1 – The fool has said in his heart, “there is no God.” They are corrupt, they have done abominable works, there is none that does good. (I do not need to tell you this as God looks down from His Throne and sees and He keeps perfect records). One day soon He will read to you from His Record.

Bible Challenges and Comments

Psalm 19 – The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament (expanse) shows His handiwork (the work of God’s Hands). Day after day utters speech and night unto night reveals knowledge. There is no speech nor language where their voice is not heard. Their line (measuring tape) has gone out through all the earth and Their words to the end of the world. In them He has set a tabernacle (tent) for the sun, which is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, And rejoices like a strong man to run its race. Its rising is from one end of heaven, and its circuit to the other end; And there is nothing hidden from its heat.

The second half of this Psalm describes the Law that Holds Creation together and the Law that points to the trust in God that we should have.

The law of the Lord is perfect, converting the soul; The testimony of the Lord is sure, making wise the simple; The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart; The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes; The fear of the Lord is clean, enduring forever; The judgments of the Lord are true and righteous altogether. More to be desired are they than gold, Yea, than much fine gold; Sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb. Moreover by them Your servant is warned, And in keeping them there is great reward. Who can understand his errors? Cleanse me from secret faults. Keep back Your servant also from presumptuous sins; Let them not have dominion over me. Then I shall be blameless, And I shall be innocent of great transgression. Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart Be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my strength and my Redeemer.

Thursday's Blog - Praise the LORD, "oh my Soul"!

Thursday’s Blog – Praise the LORD, “oh my Soul”!
Lamentations 3:20-24 – My soul still remembers and sinks (is bowed down) within me. This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. Through the LORD’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my soul, “Therefore I hope in HIM!”

Bible Challenges and Comments
Tucked in between Jeremiah and Ezekiel is this little book in the Holy Bible that is called Lamentations. There are many “laments” of Jeremiah the writer of this book and yet nearly in the middle of all the words of the book we find the confidence and hope that Jeremiah has in the God of Israel.

I have great joy knowing that all of the trials, troubles and transgressions that believers in Jesus Christ face on the moment by moment schedule of the demonic war around us are covered “through” the LORD’s mercies, thus we are not consumed… but we are refined by the fire! What can be said that has not already been said?

His compassions DO NOT FAIL, but are NEW EVERY MORNING. If thoughts like this do not bring tears of emotional joy to your cheeks, then you might need to check in with the Holy Spirit this morning.

Now I know that there must be someone who is thinking; “Good for Israel, but what about us poor Gentiles” we are nothing but a bunch of unworthy “Heathens”. Well, if not for the “mercies and compassions” of the LORD you might have an argument. But take note! The epistle to the Romans was written to Gentiles and in chapter nine the apostle Paul makes it clear for us Gentiles that God’s mercy and compassions is readily available to us Gentiles too. The context is Romans 9:14-29 but for the sake of time we will look only at a few.

Romans 9:22-26 – What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known, endured with much long-suffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction, and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy, which He had prepared beforehand for glory, even us whom He called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? As He says also in Hosea 2:23, “I will call them My people, who were not My people, and her Beloved, who was not Beloved.” “And it shall come to pass in the place where I was said to them, ‘You are not My people,’ There they will be called the Sons of God.”

“Yes, yes we are ‘saved’ Gentiles and know the compassions and mercies of the LORD” thus we can have the same confidence as that of the prophet Jeremiah. But think with me; this is not just the thought of one man! Every person who has bowed the soul and allowed the Creator God to speak comfort and mercy to them, knows within their soul that this mercy and compassion, did not come so easy for the LORD Jesus who made it possible for you and me to have believing confidence in the Mercy of God!

There are millions upon millions of souls living and dead who know that the compassions of the LORD do not FAIL. What should this mean? EVERYTHING; physically and materially in the life around us fails. God does not FAIL and so our confidence is true. You do not have to have any confidence in the words of this devotional, but you must, I say YOU MUST have confidence in THE GOD of the Holy Bible. Your soul will leap for joy, just as the lame who walked and the blind who saw. Matthew 15:29-31.

Lamentations 1:9 – Her uncleanness is in her skirts; She did not consider her destiny; Therefore her collapse was awesome; She had no comforter. O LORD, behold my affliction, for the enemy has magnified himself.

Bible Challenges and Comments
Today, the people of God live in every nation under the sun. For anyone to think differently of that first sentence would be foolish, demonic and false. However there are unreached people groups within a nation that have never heard of the “Death and Resurrection” of Jesus Christ. There were people groups in Israel when Jeremiah penned the book of Lamentations and there are people groups in the United States of America today who have never heard. “But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us, Romans 5:8”.

We commonly call these groups of people “unbelievers” they are by the way, religious, conservative, liberal, immoral and just plain disobedient. Yes, the same can be said of believers so just what is the point? Nationally, speaking we are a country of uncleanness. We have ceased to consider our destiny. Therefore like Israel our collapse will be awesome. We have forgotten and lost faith in this: “GOD is AWESOME”.

National collapse is not pleasant, just ask anyone who has faced their nation and witnessed tyranny, aggression and government corruption. Or just wait a decade and you will firsthand knowledge. I suppose we could just give up and give in to this cesspool of corruption; all we need do is just stay “ignorant”. I do not like the word “ignorant”, but to most of us we are ignorant to the most important subject in human history.

We are ignorant of God, ignorant of His Love, ignorant of His Mercy and ignorant of His Grace. How do I know that? The Holy Bible states clearly that if you do not have faith in the Son of God who is Jesus Christ. We need this very moment to humble ourselves before our AWESOME God, we need to repent and pray that God would heal our nation. Remember that word we looked at few days ago? “Brute, brutish or stupid” and I am now reminded of a commercial.

There was a man applying for membership in a physical exercise program. He was asked by the program associate. “What is it that you do?” the applicant responded, “I pick things up and put them down”. The applicant kept repeating those words to every question, so the last scene in the commercial is the program associate opening the back door and letting the applicant out. Even though the applicant was big and muscular, he was rejected because of being a brute. We may laugh, but folks even though we may look qualified to carry this nation on the shoulders of humanity, we are stupid of God’s love thus God has let us out of the back door of His watch care.

Here is the rub! Most citizens of the United States of America look qualified to be free, independent and courageous, yet we are blind, slow to hear and paralyzed such as the man that Jesus healed at the pool of Bethesda; John 5:1-15. Less than ten years ago our national heritage was that we were then a Christian nation. I am looking at the present time at verses 14 and 15. We have traded our relationship with Jesus for the secular humanistic views of corruption, just as the man to whom Jesus clearly said. “See you have been made well. Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.

Lamentations 1:8 – Jerusalem has sinned grievously, therefore she has become vile (removed). All who honored her despise her because they have seen her nakedness; Yes she sighs and turns away.

Bible Challenges and Comments
The book of Lamentations, written by the prophet Jeremiah is one of my favorites. I also like the book of Ecclesiastes and the book of Proverbs; these books were written by Solomon who succeeded his father David to be king over Israel. The Old Testament was written by prophets, priests and kings.

These men also were shepherds, farmers, nomads, merchants, husbands and fathers and of course these were also children under the authority of their parents. I do not want to just single out the men; there were women also, like Ruth and Esther who may not have written the books named after them, but like Rahab the harlot were used of God to provide to you and me… ONE message; the message of FAITH in God.

That message today in the United States of America is under “sincere” attack. I would like to take a look at Hebrews 11. Now the whole chapter is an interesting read and having to do with the purpose of my writing this morning, but I just want to pick out a few people, whom much is said about but whether you have heard of them or not, they all had one thing in common. Of course that one thing is – FAITH!

Chapter eleven starts out with a definition of what faith is: Faith is the object “realization” of what people hope for or better; of what people have “confidence in”. also it is said that the “elders” the history of God’s faithful people, that because of this “faith” they obtained a good report. What by the way is that “Good Report?” It is the Holy written Word of God. Yes the very object of FAITH of these men and women is today under ATTACK.

Who are these pillars of faith? Abel, Enoch, Noah, Abraham, Isaac, Jacob, Joseph, Moses, Rahab, Gideon, Barak, Samson, Jephthah, David, Samuel, many others and all the prophets. There is much to say about these men and their women all of whom were “looking by FAITH to God for a better or heavenly country and a better resurrection.
Now the world, maybe you who are reading this are part of the world system that rejects “faith” so I will say this in conclusion this morning. The world tortured and stoned many of these people of faith, they were killed with the sword too. They wandered about without homes, they were destitute and tormented. Of whom the “world” which is opposite of “faith” is not, was not and will not be worthy of the good testimony through faith in God, therefore the world will NOT receive the “PROMISE”!

What? Is there a promise to the people of Faith? Yes there is a promise that these people “realize” and have “confidence” in (Hebrews 11:1). These men, women and children are the witnesses to the world that the world is to lay aside every weight of SIN, the worldly traps that ensnare people to believe that abortion, homosexuality, adultery, murder, lying and disobedience to parents are good and the things that are good are classified as evil.

How then should a person set these things aside which are an abomination to God and country? Looking unto Jesus, who is the author (origin) and finisher (perfect) expression of FAITH, who for the JOY that was set (promised) to Him endured the cross; He despised the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. Hebrews 12:2. Jesus is the ONLY way as He has said.

John 14:6 – Jesus said to Thomas, “I am the WAY; I am the TRUTH, and the LIFE. No one comes to the Father except through ME. And yes Jesus is the author of FAITH, if your religion does not include Jesus, then you have no FAITH, NO HOPE AND NO FUTURE RESURRECTION and you are nothing more than a THORN in the flesh that seeks to destroy the people of God and The United States of America.
