Thursday’s Blog – Praise the LORD, “oh
my Soul”!
Lamentations 3:20-24 – My soul still remembers and sinks (is bowed down)
within me. This I recall to my mind, therefore I have hope. Through the LORD’s
mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new
every morning; Great is Your faithfulness. “The LORD is my portion,” says my
soul, “Therefore I hope in HIM!”
Bible Challenges and Comments
Tucked
in between Jeremiah and Ezekiel is this little book in the Holy Bible that is
called Lamentations. There are many “laments” of Jeremiah the writer of this
book and yet nearly in the middle of all the words of the book we find the
confidence and hope that Jeremiah has in the God of Israel.
I
have great joy knowing that all of the trials, troubles and transgressions that
believers in Jesus Christ face on the moment by moment schedule of the demonic
war around us are covered “through” the LORD’s mercies, thus we are not
consumed… but we are refined by the fire! What can be said that has not already
been said?
His
compassions DO NOT FAIL, but are NEW EVERY MORNING. If thoughts like this do
not bring tears of emotional joy to your cheeks, then you might need to check
in with the Holy Spirit this morning.
Now
I know that there must be someone who is thinking; “Good for Israel, but what
about us poor Gentiles” we are nothing but a bunch of unworthy “Heathens”.
Well, if not for the “mercies and compassions” of the LORD you might have an argument.
But take note! The epistle to the Romans was written to Gentiles and in chapter
nine the apostle Paul makes it clear for us Gentiles that God’s mercy and
compassions is readily available to us Gentiles too. The context is Romans
9:14-29 but for the sake of time we will look only at a few.
Romans
9:22-26 – What if God, wanting to show His wrath and to make His power known,
endured with much long-suffering the vessels of wrath prepared for destruction,
and that He might make known the riches of His glory on the vessels of mercy,
which He had prepared beforehand for glory, even us whom He called, not of the
Jews only, but also of the Gentiles? As He says also in Hosea 2:23, “I will call
them My people, who were not My people, and her Beloved, who was not Beloved.” “And
it shall come to pass in the place where I was said to them, ‘You are not My
people,’ There they will be called the Sons of God.”
“Yes,
yes we are ‘saved’ Gentiles and know the compassions and mercies of the LORD” thus
we can have the same confidence as that of the prophet Jeremiah. But think with
me; this is not just the thought of one man! Every person who has bowed the
soul and allowed the Creator God to speak comfort and mercy to them, knows
within their soul that this mercy and compassion, did not come so easy for the
LORD Jesus who made it possible for you and me to have believing confidence in
the Mercy of God!
There
are millions upon millions of souls living and dead who know that the compassions
of the LORD do not FAIL. What should this mean? EVERYTHING; physically and
materially in the life around us fails. God does not FAIL and so our confidence
is true. You do not have to have any confidence in the words of this
devotional, but you must, I say YOU MUST have confidence in THE GOD of the Holy
Bible. Your soul will leap for joy, just as the lame who walked and the blind
who saw. Matthew 15:29-31.
Wrinkles
are simply lines of beauty worn proudly by the mature.
Don’t
wait for the rain to stop… step out and enjoy the liquid sun drops!
What
else can a person ask for? Think… I am sure you have the answer.
It
really matters little about the cost of everything, but what you spend “your”
everything on!
